Chapter 10 - MPGM

* As the day for the students to cast votes for the MPGM came nearer, Adeline was still not back to school. Just when the day arrived, Adeline surprisingly came when all thought she won't. Her face was still pale, and head still bandaged but still walked confidently like she was in the past. Candice still thought she would win, but she was wrong. She forgot that the students have sympathy, and a kind soul. Everyone felt that Adeline was willing to sacrifice for a person whom she do not know, which shows that she was not a bad person. After reflecting on themselves, they found out that Adeline never did bully anyone before, and only fight back when needed. Thus, when the votes were counted, Adeline won the MPGM with surprisingly large amount of votes.

* Candice was angry. She did not knew that the results would be like that. She forgot that there are 1/4 nerds in school. Helping one of them is like helping all. Adeline helped that nerd, and the nerd was grateful to her, thus helping her to call the other nerds to vote for her. The guy Adeline had saved, had a large clique of his own, and therefore asked everyone he knew to vote for her. Sylvester was somehow happy for Adeline, instead of feeling upset for his own girlfriend, Candice. Candice felt that her face were all lost.....she could not bear this anger any longer n strived to make Adeline's life a living hell from that day onwards.....Suddenly, she got an idea. She picked up her handphone n dialled.

"Hello? I need your help........." After hanging up the phone, Candice smile evilly....If Sly wont be mine, he won't be wretch's too. She thought.

Chapter 9 - Her Illness

[Sly POV]
I was shocked when I saw Adeline pushed away the student and got hit by the car. I can sense the others gaping behind me. When I rushed to her, she was bleeding profusely. However, on her face was a slight smile. A SLIGHT SMILE!!! How could anyone smile when they got hit by the car!!! Am I seeing things? But hey, It was indeed a smile! I accompanied her on the way to the ambulance. She had fainted but murmurs could be heard from her mouth.

"Don't leave me, you said you won't. You broke your promise. Please, don't leave..." It must be the guy she loved. "Please....Sly..." HUH!!! Is she calling me? When did I ever leave her? I saw a tear crept out at the edge of her eyes. Could it be, that guy she loved has the same name as me?

As I was pacing up and down the corridor, a lady in her late-thirties came rushing towards my direction.

"Hey, are you the one who sent Adeline here? What happened to her? Is she out yet?" She shot me all the questions in one breath.

"Yes, I'm the one who sent her here. She was met an accident. She's still in the operation room." I answered. At first, I thought she was Adeline's mother, but I was shocked when I heard her say, "How am I supposed to answer to her mum?". I plucked up my courage and asked for her identity.

"I'm Ms Fong, her psychologist, as well as family doctor." She introduced as she sizes me up. "You are?"

"I'm Sylvester, her classmate." I replied. All of a sudden, her face turned into a shocked one. "Sylvester Sim?" She almost fall on to the floor when I nodded. "Aren't you dead? How can you be alive? What happened?" I was confused. I didn't know what Ms Fong was talking about. When did I ever meet Adeline?

"I'm afraid you are mistakened. I...I do not remember meeting Adeline before she transferred in." I managed to answer though I was very confused myself. She didn't say anything much but mumbled,"I must have mistakened, Sly never did call her Adeline." Though I did not knew what she meant by that, I was very sure that she onced had a lover named Sylvester Sim. However, was that why she spoke to me instead of the other guys in school? Was I reminding her of the "him" in her mind? Should I leave her alone and give her peace? All thoughts vanished into thin air when the doctor walked out of the operation room. Ms Fong and I rushed up towards him.

"Is she all right? Is there anything wrong with her heart?" Ms Fong asked worriedly. Was there a problem with her heart? She never told me. Hey Sylvester Sim!!! Who are you to let her tell you her illness?

"She's perfectly all right, Patricia. You are getting too paranoid. However her heart was quite weak. Did she had another relapse recently?" The doctor asked. So both of them knew each other. I thought they were strangers. They started a conversation without sensing me standing like a nerd beside them.

"Yes, I heard her say this morning that her mood swings are getting off-hand." Ms Fong replied. Mood swings? So that's why she was like another person today. But, mood swings could be controlled right? I shook off all my thoughts and went to visit Adeline at her ward. Her face was pale and her hands cold. She was staring at the ceiling as I walked towards him.

"Are you all right Adeline?" I asked, concerned. She said nothing but simply nodded slightly.

[Ade POV]
I admit I was willing to let the car knock onto me. I didn't know what I was thinking. Was I really wanting to save that student or...I wanted the car to knock on me? That scene, it reminded me of the accident....

*~ Flashback ~*
"Nah!" Sly said as he passed a well-decorated little box to Adeline. When Adeline opened it, it was a cute ring that she had wanted to buy a week ago.

"Wow! You bought it?" Adeline exclaimed as she wore the ring on her finger, admiring it. She recalled that the ring costs $500+. "How could you waste your money? You must have wasted all your savings on it."

"Bingo! Anyway, wearing that on your finger meant you accepted my proposal right?" Sly asked jokingly. "WHAT!!!" Ade bulged her eyes out as she choked on her own saliva. "We..we...we're only 16!!! For goodness sake!" She stuttered. However, deep in her heart, there was a tinge of sweetness and happiness.

"I can wait. We'll wait till we're 18 and get married right away!" Sly answered confidently. Adeline tried to pull out the ring but with no avail. "I specially bought a size smaller than your finger. You can't pull it out anymore!" Sly laughed as Adeline blushed while kept trying to pull it out. Finally, she gave up and gave Sly a smack on his head. "I still can smack you!" She pouts and ran across the road. Suddenly, a car came out from nowhere and sped towards Adeline. "Adeline!" Sly shouts as he pushes Adeline away.

"Bang!" The car knocked Sly over. Adeline was shocked as tears pours out from her eyes.
*~ Back to Reality ~*

[Ade POV]
I thought I would die, or I should say, I wished that I would die. No one in this world cares for me. My mother, was too busy with her fashion business in England. My father, was too busy with his company in France. My housekeeper, only cares if I had a boyfriend outside. Even the person whom I trusted, my family doctor, Ms Patricia Fong, only cares for me in order to report to my parents. I was too clever to know all this. They thought I was in the dark, but I never did. Everyday, I was like a robot, comes to school and studies, goes home to revise. Was this the problem of being too perfect? Is it true that when you are good at something, you'll lose other things? I had everything in life. Money, looks, talent, intelligence, but not happiness. There was never warmth in my family. It's once in 5 blue moons that I ever have a dinner with my parents. I'm lonely, but who cares? They only care if I'm lacking money. There was never once when they asked me if I'm happy. I used to think I was happy in the past. But not now, when I'm getting too clever. How I wish that I'd find a way to be happy. As I was in a daze, Sylvester came into the room. Other than Dion, Serene and Yuli, I guess he's the only one who cares about me.

PS: Bingo! I've FINALLY completed tis chappy le....I was busy doing my projects, u see. While I was writing the ending of tis chap, i was feeling...umm...kinda depressed de lor....cos i was feeling sorry for Adeline. But horz, i feel tat it's true lor...when u hav sumthing, u'll lose another thing. There was once a schmate of mine, she was pretty, perfect, but her parents divorced lor....haiz...getting too sad liaoz...i'll promise to update soon kkz?

Chapter 8 - The Competition

* As days went by, Adeline and Sylvester became great partners in music as well as studies. While Adeline helps the latter out in his work, the latter gave tips on the music she composes. All was well, except the fact that Candice was still Sylvester's girlfriend and was getting extremely jealous of their good relationship. She was determined to revenge. The Most Popular Girl of the Month is coming. She was sure that with Adeline's arrogant attitude, Candice is bound to win her as she had many friends in school, unlike Adeline, who only has her gang.

* Adeline was walking around, in search of her gang. Suddenly, Candice and her gang stopped her. They looked apologetic but Adeline knew better. She knew that they would not expose their arrogance, not when all was looking. It was just like the other time when they picked a fight with her. No one was around that time.

"I'm so sorry about the other day. I represent my gang to apologise to you." Candice bowed as she said. Everyone was now looking at them, including Sylvester and Adeline's gang. Giving them a look, Adeline simply shrugged her shoulders. She knew that Candice was just trying to gain popularity. "I'm not that petty." she answered. Candice took out a letter from her pocket and passed it to Adeline before leaving the latter.

[Ade POV]
I went to a quiet corner where I opened the letter. "Come to the 4th floor." was all I read. I went straight to the venue and saw them waiting impatiently. "Finally. You have came." Her friend Shernice said.

"Why not? Do you think I'm afraid of a bunch of ah lians?" I shot back.

"We're not here to quarrel." Candice interrupted. "Miss Act Cool Adeline, I'm here to issue you a challenge. If you are able to win me in the Most Popular Girl of the month, I shall not bother you any longer. BUT, if you lose, you are to get out of Sylvester's life and not pester him anymore. AND, you and your gang would have to bow your heads when you see any of us. Are you ok with that?"

I knew sonething was wrong right from the start. "What authority do you have to command me?" I shot coolly.

"I DARE you to!" She almost screamed.

I laughed out loud. "Dare? Only dumb people dares the others and I never accept a dare." I laughed at them. Just as they were about to take action, I continued. "HOWEVER, this is exceptional." and left the place.

+ After School +
[Ade POV]
I met up with my gang as they couldn't wait to ask me what did they do to me. When I told them that I've accepted the dare, they looked horrified.

"You didn't!" Dion exclaimed. Seeing their horrified faces, I asked them about the competition.

" The Most Popular Girl of the Month, also known as MPGM, takes place at the end of each month. And so far, that wretch Candice won every single month since the month she arrived." Serene explained. Obviously, she was the most calmed of all.

"So how are you gonna win her this month? She's too powerful, and she acts innocent, which helps her gain more votes. Even if she didn't try to increase her votes, you are simply too cold to everyone other than us. No one likes cold people. So I guess you have no way out." Yuli sighed. I knew it, she didn't act out the scene this afternoon for nothing. She had a motive. Which is to gain votes. There is no way out, or so they thought. I guess I'd have to use that strategy. The only way out is for me to be back who I am.

+ The Next Day +
As I stepped into the canteen, someone bumped onto me. It was a nerdy student. When she saw who she had bumped, she was horrified. She kept bowing and apologising but she was thoroughly shocked when I squatted down to help her pick up the books. Though I thought no one would notice, but I was willing to help. I did that on my free will. This is because of my serious mood swings. I've seen a psychologist and she was sure of it. One minute I can be really cold, and another minute, I can be really happy. It was getting more and more serous nowadays. Ms Fong, my psychologist said that there was no way to cure it unless I set my mind. However, I've lost the interest to do anything since his death. This is getting serious. Now, I wasn't even sure of what I'm really thinking or feeling. Never mind, I'll just go maniac and knock myself on the wall. That'll be just great.

"Nah." I said as I passed her the books. "Be careful next time ok? Those heavy books might just break your leg." I commented as those books weigh a ton! With that, I left her gaping while I skipped away cheerfully.

[Sly POV]
I turned around from my friends when I heard a loud bang at the entrance of the canteen. It was a bookworm who had bumped onto Adeline. "She's dead." I heard one of my friends say. However, to everyone's surprise, Adeline did not walk away but helped the girl pick up her books. After speaking to the girl, Adeline hopped off cheerfully. She HOPPED!!! was what everyone was thinking. I had overheard Adeline and her friends' conversation yesterday, but I refused to think that she did it in order to win MPGM as from her eyes, I see happiness, and innocence. She did it without any reason.

+ After Sch +
* The whole school was amazed at the change of Adeline. However, they thought she was just gaining votes as Candice had spreaded rumours that the former had challenged her though the truth was the other way round. Sylvester spotted Adeline at the gate and was about to ask her about the rumours when both of them saw a car speeding towards one of the students who was crossing the road. As quick as a bolt of lightning, Adeline rushed forward and pushed him away.

"Bang!!!" The sound of the car crashing onto Adeline was heard around the school.

PS. Yay! I finally plucked out sometime to continue it. Cos i dun wanna left it hanging, you see. But horz, the main reason is cos i dun hav the inspiration 2 continue the story.:P Inspirations cum suddenly while i was changing the settings of my blog lor, hahax, very strange ritez? Aniwaes, gotta continue my homework le, will update when inspirations cum again!

Chapter 7 - Her Story, Her Song

+ After school +
[Sly POV]
As I walked cheerfully along the corridor, I heard noises. Familiar, yet soft. As I fasten my steps towards it and just as I turned around the corner, I saw Nick pushing Adeline forcefully against the wall and tried to kiss her. I don't know why but I was fuming with anger as I pushed Nick aside and gave him a punch. Saved, Adeline took off in a great speed as I continue to punch Nick. Until he was bruised all over, I stopped as I knew that he no longer had any strength to fight. I quickly sped to the detention room, where I thought Adeline would be in. However, she was not in it. She sure gets the information fast, as I recalled that Adeline no longer has detention. As I leaned against the wall, I thought about where could she be at this time. Music Room 4, I thought. I haerd that she has had the room booked even before she transferred in. Just like me.

I sped to the room and saw her, once again playing the piano. She looks so innocent and sweet when she plays that. Hey, what are you thinking SYLVESTER SIM!!! Do you think you stand any chances? Dream on! I saw her turned her head around and signalled me to close the door and sit on the chair near the piano.

"I...I...." I stuttered as I looked at my shoes.

"I know it. Thank you." She whispered softly but audible to me. Her question next surprised me.

"Do you care to listen to a song I composed?" Wow! She actually composes song, like me!!! I nodded my head and widen my ear to listen.

"The song's called I'll Never Believe in Love." She said as she turned her head away from me. I felt that she was shedding tears.

"It's....beautiful. Especially with your piano." I tried to cheer her up. I saw her wiping her tears before turning back to face me.

"Thank you so much. This is the first time I'm singing Live to anyone." She whispered. She got up and smiled. "You might have guessed, the person peeking at you practising that time was me. And, I think that with the combination of my piano, An Jing sounds better. Since the original song was from a piano."

I nodded my head in agreement. She was right. I got up from my seat, and sped to Room 5 to get my guitar. When I returned, Adeline looked amazed but she understood what I meant. Slowly, she played her piano and we worked beautifully with the song. I didn't know that we had such chemistry. We practised and practised, till the song was flawless. Suddenly, I had an idea.

"Hey, why don't we participate in the Talentime Competition?" I found myself popping the question. When she looked down thoughtfully, I thought she was going to reject it. But Adeline raise her head and nodded in agreement. I was overjoyed! When I looked at the time, I realised that it was already 6pm! I suggested to send her home and she readily agree. However, she refuses to allow me to send her to the gate of her bungalow and simply alighted at the end of her street.

When I was back at home, I couldn't help but think of the song of hers. Was there once an unhappy memory in her life? Who is the "you" in the story? If what she sang in the song was true, does she keeps herself away from others to prevent falling in love? Her song kept circulating in my mind. When she sang the song, her eyes were so sad, but yet, the melody was soothing. I saw the innocent eyes welled up in tears when she was singing the last part. When she sings, her eyes were forever so pure. But when she was pulled back to reality, she eyes becomes confusing and her mind hard to read. However, I was still pleased to have her accompanied me in the Talentime Competition. Slowly, my eyes became heavy and slept.

PS. Another chap done! i cant believe my hands!!! I've completed 2 chaps in 1 day!!! a new record hors! Haiz...too late le...not enough time for another but wait patiently kkz?!?! my brain needs a rest and it has to focus on my hw n projects, which r to be handed in nex yr kkz? which is lik, 3 weeks left!!! 5 projects n a STACK of maths paper plus a BUNCH of summaries!!!! :P...im SOOO dead. But dun worry, I wont giv up on tis blog de kkz?!?!?! :D

Chapter 6 - The Choice

+ Break +
* Sly was totally regretful of what he had done. However, he could not bear to see Candice sobbing that he chose to help Candice. When he was walking along the corridor, he bumped onto someone. When he lifted his head, he was surprised that it was Adeline, with no emotions on her face. Just as she was about to, once again, walk past Sylvester, the latter was reluctant to let history repeat itself. He grabbed hold of Adeline's wrist and stopped her.

"Let me explain, would you?"

"No. What's there to explain? I do not wish to waste my precious time listening to a guy who don't have any sense of justice. Don't you tell me that you have to help your girlfriend, because you are not at all helping her. Instead, you are harming her. Do you want to watch her commit crimes then you understand how wrong you are now? Let me tell you, I'm totally disgusted with you and this incident just makes me feel that you are just like the others." Adeline shot and left Sylvester standing alone, flabbergasted.

[Sly POV]
I thought over what Adeline said at the corner of the little garden at the roof top. She was right, but Candice seems hurt too. Who's right and who's wrong? This question was flashed in my mind for numerous times since the last I've met Adeline. Finally, I decided to go along with heaven's will. Head means Adeline is right. Tail means Candice is right. As I threw the coin upwards, I watched the 10 cent coin intently and caught it in my hand. When I opened my hand, the side was.......

[Ade POV]
Break had just ended but I was in the class for, let's say 15 minutes. Since scolding that crappy Sylvester, I did not know where to go but definitely not to Dion they all. They would certainly not be any help to me. As I sat at my desk, I wondered if I'm too harsh to Sylvester. Hey Adeline! Don't be so kind-hearted! That guy deserves it! But somehow, I felt guilty as I recalled his shocked and sorrowful look when I, like a machine gun, shot him all those angry words. Hmm...he should be all right. ADELINE TAN!!!! Look at you, feeling so guilty! If you knew he'd feel upset then why did you still scold him!!! Hey, that wasn't why I shout at myself in my heart!!! >_> Opps, break's over. Gotta use that awful cold look again.

While more and more students pile up into the classroom, Sylvester that crappy cat did not appear. When he at last appear, I almost explode when he had his arm around Candice as he paced into the class. OH GOD!!! I've forgotten that Candice is in my class for this lesson! Crap, now what? He didn't even look at my direction and simply sit besides Candice, indicating Candice's partner to sit beside me. Argh, why am I so unlucky? Furthermore, her partner was an extremely irritating flirt who keep trying to attract my attention!!! Well, obviously, that cat did not even listened to my scolding!!!! Hey, am I angry? OF COURSE NOT!!!! I shout to myself as I banged the table. Everyone went silent and turned to watch me, who's sitting with a flirt at the back of the room. What now? Now I'm a crazy transfer student who likes to bang tables! I gave them a look and glared at the flirt, who's called don't know what Nick, as he patted my back. Without a warning, I slapped him and turned away.

[Sly POV]
Wow, I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard the bang of the tables. As I turned around, I saw Adeline glare at Nick and gave him a slap. That Nick! He just can't keep his hands to himself!!! How dare he touch Adeline's back!!! I thoroughly regret to let him sit beside her!!!! But, I had to stay with Candice, to compensate her for helping the Justice, or I should say, Adeline.

*~ Flashback ~*
When I opened my hand, the side was Head, which means Adeline's right. Now, I'd have to clear all this with Mr Lee. After telling him what had happened, Mr Lee smiled proudly.

"I'm so glad that you know what's right and what's wrong. Now, how should I punish Candice for lying?"

"Please, Mr Lee, let her and her gang off. They would be upset enough already." I pleaded. After considering for a minute, Mr Lee smiled and nodded.

After leaving Mr Lee, I tried to look for Adeline but with no avail. Instead, I saw Candice who seemed to recover from her pain. I decided to confront her and tell her the truth.

"Candice, I just told Mr Lee the truth about me only seeing Adeline slap you lightly."

[Can POV]
"Candice, I just told Mr Lee the truth about me only seeing Adeline slap you lightly." As Sly approached me, he began.
WHAT!!!! HOW COULD HE!!!!
Luckily I kept my cool and jut whispered, "I knew you'd do that, you are right." My prediction was right. His face was full of guiltiness and asked to accompany me the whole break. At least he didn't look for that act cool girl.

[Sly POV]
The least I could do was to stay by Candice's side. I accompanied her to our class as she had the same lesson as our class. When I entered the classroom, I yearned to look at Adeline but Candice won't let me break the eye contact.

*~ Back To Reality ~*

[Sly POV]
I knew what I did was right. Now, the important thing is to explain to Adeline after school. Which I yearned during the whole day, despite having Candice beside me.

Chapter 5 - The Incident.

[Can POV]
Whilst I was looking for Sly, I saw him holding the hand of the famous cold Adeline. The look that he gave her was different from his usual. So she was the one who made Sly so troubled. Furthermore, if Sly ditch me because of her, all my face would be thrown away. No, I cannot let that happen. Sly is mine and he'll never leave me. I called for one of my friends, the senior bully of the school to teach her a lesson. Who knows that he would be defeated by her? It's time for me to teach her a lesson personally. The main point is to make Sly leave a bad impression of her.

+ The Next Day +
* Adeline and her gang were walking past the canteen when they heard someone called them.

"Hey, stop there!"

When they turned around, they saw yet another group of girls. Obviously, Candice was the leader. One of her group member said arrogantly.

"How dare you walked past our leader without bowing?" Adeline recognised Candice as Sylvester's girlfriend. Without answering them, they turned around but found that they were surrounded. Dion, Serene and Yuli could not bear it any longer and was about to give them a lesson when Adeline stop them.

"If you want to pick on us, pick on only me. Obviously you don't want them to be involved too." Adeline told Candice.

"But..." Yuli was just about to stop her when Adeline said.

"Move! I'll meet you guys later." When the trio left, Adeline turned to Candice,

[Ade] What do you want now?
[Ah Lian] We want to teach you a lesson for seducing our Da Jie's husband.
[Ade] Which eye of yours saw me seducing Sylvester?
[Ah Lian] You....
[Can] Not matter what, now it's 5 to 1, u can't possibly escape so I suggest you to surrender.
[Ade] There's no such word in my dictionary. If you want to fight, c'mon.
[Can] Sisters, GO!

But before they could react, Adeline had already gave each of them a slap. Just as Candice's gang was howling with pain, Adeline, ignorant that Sylvester has approached them, gave Candice a tight slap.

"If you can't see what I mean by Don't Mess With Me, I'll show you." Adeline hissed.

"Candice!" Sylvester shoued as he ran towards her. Adeline then knew that he had seen the fight. Without explaining, she left them while rushing to meet her gang.

+ The Next Day +
* Adeline and her gang was called to the discipline room. They saw Mr Lee looking upset and Candice and her gang with swollen cheeks. Beside Candice sat Sylvester, who was comforting Candice.

[Ade n Gang] Good morning Mr Lee.
[Mr Lee] This a certainly not a good morning. Take a seat. (after they were seated) Candice and her friends have complained to us that you guys injured them.
[Ade] Not us, it only involved me.
[Yuli] But they were the one who provoked us! We should be the one complaining!
[Mr Lee] That, I did not know. But from what I see, Adeline you indeed injure them badly.
[Ade] I'm those type who admit what I've done. But I will never admit that I hit them hard.
[Can] *sobs* I.....my face are now swollen and you are saying tat you didn't hit me hard?
[Dion] Stop your craps lah idiot. You should get an award for acting so well!
[Ade] Stop it, you guys. Mr Lee, this does not involved Dion they all so can you please sent them back?
[Serene] I understand what Adeline mean. In this case, we'll only be siding Adeline and would fail to see the justice. So even IF Adeline was wrong, we'll still side her.
[Mr Lee] That seems logical. All right, you guys may leave now.
[Yuli & Dion] But...but....*was pull away by Serene*
[Mr Lee] We have an eye witness to show that you indeed hit them hard. Sly, would you say what happened?
[Ade] Wait, Mr Lee. I object to having this person as the eye witness.
[Mr Lee] Why?
[Ade] Since my friends would help me lie, Sylvester's Candice boyfriend, wouldn't he side too?
[Mr Lee] Sly's a fair guy, don't worry.
[Ade] Then I have nothing to say. I just hopes that this witness is righteous.

[Mr Lee] Very well, the problem is settled! So Adeline, since you are a newcomer, I'll let you off lightly. Slapping each of them costs detention for 1/2 hour. So that means you have 2 1/2 hour of detention today.
[Ade] Very well, Mr Lee, that seems like fair.

[Ade POV]
I was totally disgusted at Sylvester. He obviously don't have any sense of justice. Suddenly, I stood up and gave him a slap.
"That means that I have 3 hours of detention in total, Mr Lee" I shot at Mr Lee before leaving the room. I was totally disgusted at that Sylvester and was determined that he was just like the other guys.

[Sly POV]
I was shocked when Adeline gave me that slap. The pain of her slap seemed to be spreading to my heart. I was so apologetic to Candice that I chose to lie for her. I stood up and left the room. It was when I knew I was wrong. But all was too late. I was sure that when Adeline slapped me, our friendship was too slapped away.

PS. Haiz...I can't believe that I actually could type so fast.....guess it was becos of my crazy brain..lik the story? I dun lik tis chap lor....and tis chap shows how evil is Candice lor she was the one to plan all of it de.....haiz....hope u guys lik it! :P

Chapter 4 - Not an easy person

* Staring into space, Sylvester was unable to concentrate on his homework. The image of Adeline walking past him without a word was tormenting him as it repeated again and again in his mind. She had been ignoring him for the past few days. Among his friends, 75% of them were interested in Adeline and he felt jealous when they were around her. However, no matter how hard they try, they never melt Adeline's cold stare. This was the only console he got. Whenever anyone passes love letters to her, without even looking at it, she tore it into pieces and always left that guy standing rooted to the ground, heartbrokened. Finally, he could not bear it anymore and decided to confront her after school.

+ After Sch +
[Ade POV]
I was roaming around the school, waiting for Serene, Yuli and Dion. Just then, I recieved a SMS from them.

"Unable to escape Ms Dennis's clutches..Dun wait 4 us."

Just as I was about to leave, I saw Sylvester approached me. I quickly stood up and was about to escape when he caught hold of my hand. He had an apologetic look on his face. I took a deep breath and tried to remove my hand from his grip but he held it firmly.

"Let me go." I said, looking at him coldly.

"Not until you tell me why have you been avoiding me." He replied. I refused to admit and looked away from him.

"I'm not avoiding you. Why should I?"

"I have this feeling that you are escaping from me since you saw Candice and I together." He looked deeply into my eyes. I refused to make any eye contact with him. I knew I have to answer to him.

"Do you really want to know why? This is because that I felt that there's a need to keep away from guys who are attached. I'm already not popular in school. I do not wish to be someone who all hates." This time, I forced myself to look at him and slowly broke away from his grip. I could sense that he was upset but hey, I don't want anymore trouble now. I turned away from him and left silently.

Just as I walked to a quiet corner, a guy stopped in front of me. He looked muscular and well built. Well, another crappy guy. I gave him a stare but he ignored it.

"I command you to be my stead." He growls. Obviously, he did not understand me at all as I HATE people commanding me.

"No. Why should I? Who are you to command me?" I counter him back. He looked as if a cake was smashed onto his face as he turned his pair of hands into fists.

"Then I'll show you that I have the power to!" He tried to give me a slap but I was enraged by then and was ready to show him my skills. With that, I used my karate skills and taught him a lesson.

"This is to show you that girls aren't easy to bully." I hissed at him.

Just as I turned around, I saw Sylvester at the corner gaping.

[Sly POV]
I was standing there heartbroken when I saw a bully followed behind Adeline. Being concerned about her afterall, I followed him. It was when I saw Adeline confronted by him. When I decided to give her a hand and fight the bully. However, I was too shocked when I saw her fighting back skillfully that I did nothing but stood rooted to the ground. I never knew she could fight so well. When she turned around to leave, she saw me but refuse to slow down. This is the second time in the week that she walked past me without a word. My heart seems to hurt more and more.

PS. Well, if u noticed, i've been writing tis story at a great speed. Faster than my others. I really need ur comments lor so comment kkz! Wow, Adeline knows karate leh :P Anyway, I'll update it soon so check back kkz?!?! :D

Chapter 3 - Her Smile

[Sly POV]
I admit I was indeed surprised when I saw her walking in cheerfully into the room. I don't know why, but I somehow felt relieved and happy for her, after hearing my classmates say that her cold stare was unbearable. This is the first time I've ever seen her smile from her heart, and not forced smiles that she used with teachers. Opps. Gotta stop staring at her, she's heading this way.

[Ade POV]
Wow, this is cool! I can't believe I actually got friends!!! Hey, this is getting out of hand. Aren't I supposed to be cold? Never mind, I'll be cold to everyone except them. Haiz, I'm so unlucky that they weren't in the same class as me. And I will have to turn myself back to the statue.

[Sly POV]
As she bounced onto the seat beside me, I had an urge to crack a joke but hey, the Mr Cool who don't talk much in DeQun JC cracking a joke? You must be joking! But before I could stop myself, I found myself turning to her and said.

"Hey, Stone, we haven't really introduce ourselves properly right?" She turned her head and looked shocked. But I was lucky as she was in a great mood as she giggled and shot back,

"Say for yourself, Act Cool Cat!" She giggled again when she saw my amazed look and replied to my question. "Fine then, I'm Adeline Tan"

"Sylvester Sim." I saw her smiled disappeared but back again within a second when she gave me a smile that almost sent my heart thumping like crazy.

[Ade POV]
Well, I have to admit that I was surprised when I heard his name. His name was the same as "him"! But I was sure that it couldn't be possible. He's gone, and never returning back to my side again. That cat was really clever to choose a time like now to talk to me, when I'm so happy. But hey, didn't i hear from the rumours that the Mr Sylvester Sim is a person who don't talk much with girls? Haiz...better stop dreaming le...The next teacher aren't a good chap.

*"Ding Dong! Ding Dong!" The bell rang hours later. Students zoomed out of the school as fast as possible whilst Adeline, unlike the others, went up the 3rd floor to Music Room 4. She was determined to let out her emotions by playing the piano. Without any reason, she started playing Jay Chou's "An Jing" in a soft sad melody. She couldn't help it. Whenever she heard this song, she was reminded of "him", who left her alone in this world to face all the problems by herself.

*~ FlashBack ~*
Sly helped her wear the heart-shaped necklace around her neck as she admired herself in the mirror.
"Wear this necklace to the competition ok?" he whispered.Giving a slight nod, she asked
"What are you going to sing?"
"An Jing from Jay Chou. The song that I liked most." He replied.

The day of the competiton, Sly did well and was the champion. All the efforts they made were worthwhile. She promised herself never to forget his look when he sang it along with his guitar. Never ever.

*~ Back To Reality ~*

* Unknowingly, a tear crept out of Adeline's eyes as she remembered the happy times when they practised the song together. He had left the world, he had left her. He made her change into a person whom she don't want to be. Sylvester was walking past the room when he heard the song. He felt sad. He don't no why but the song seemed to be lowering his spirits. As he peeked into the room, he saw her, with a tear on her cheek. He wanted to comfort her but he don't have the courage. He don't have the urge to practise his songs anymore. He left the corridor quietly as he recounted how happy Adeline was this afternoon and now, crying alone in the room.

*~ Flasback ~*
"Lynn! I won!!! I told you An Jing was just my song. I'm an expert at it!" Sly cheered as he carried the Lynn up and turned her around.

"I know, but don't you think you are getting too arrogant?" Lynn joked playfully and messes Sly's hair.

"But you like it, don't you?" Sly smiled as Lynn pouts.
*~ Back to Reality ~*

* Sylvester clucthed his head. The memories of the past have been tormenting him whenever he recalls anything. However, Sylvester never did found out how Lynn looked like. Whenever memories were recalled, it never show her face. Just as he was in a daze, his current girlfriend, Candice popped beside him and gave him a peck on the cheek.
"Thinking of me again?" She asked. Not replying, he gave her a slight smile and looked down. Candice was the reason why he refused to fall in love with Adeline. He can't bear to see Candice sacrifice for his happiness. He looked up and pull Candice along, acting as if nothing happened and bought her presents to compensate her for not looking up her for a long time. He was actually compensating for not loving her anymore. However, he just don't have the courage to break up with her.

* While they were walking along the road, they met Adeline. She was returning home after her practise. To Sylvester's surprise, she did not greet him and simply walked past him. His heart broke into pieces. He wanted to turn around and grabbed her hand but how is he going to do that with Candice beside him. He could not bear his pain any longer and sent Candice home.

Chapter 2 - Who Is She?

* The students in class just could not stop their mouths since the appearance of the girl. "Who is she?", "Is she new?" was asked by everyone. It's for sure that they would not stop talking unless their teacher, also known as Mr Friendly, Mr Lee whom all respected arrive. Well, he did after being late for 5 minutes, but not alone. Beside him was the girl and everyone gaped while she strode confidently beside him.

[Mr Lee] Alright class, im sorry for being late as we have a new student who has transferred to our JC today. Well, c'mon introduce yourself, my dear.
[Ade] Good morning ladies and gentlemen , I'm Adeline.

* All the while, Adeline's eyes remained cold and simply refused to have any eye contacts with the students.

[Mr Lee] Great job! Just what i want, short and sweet. Now why don't you take a seat beside Sylvester?

[Sly's POV]
Giving a slight nod, Adeline approached the seat beside me whilst my fans stared with jealousy. "A disgraceful teacher's pet!" i heard one of them murmured. However, as though it happened to her everyday, Adeline never react to it and sat beside me gracefully.

This is the first time I've ever seen such a cold person, excluding of course myself. Guess we should be quite
good friends. :P

She did not speak but always kept her eyes either on her notes or the whiteboard. I couldn't help but peeked at her notes and was amazed that, not only her speech, but also her notes, were short but to the point. Wow, what more can I, the hopeless case for everything in studies expect when a beautiful brainy sat by me? Just as I was daydreaming(as usual), a piece of paper was passed to me. I was surprised but not more shocked when i found out it was from Adeline.

"Your answer was wrong for question 2. Ade"

When I checked my answers, I was surprised that she was right. She wasn't too bad afterall, I thought.

[Ade POV]
I couldn't figure out why I chose to help him . Perhaps it was because he looked like him. Well, he isn't him anyway, though not only their looks, but their names were the same. Well now Adeline Tan, stop all your thoughts and concentrate!!! You can't possibly risked being exposed that you are a kind person!!! You must be cold, hear that!!!! I was shook back to reality when I heard someone called to me.

"Adeline? Are you here with us?" It was Mr Lee. The students were all staring at me by the time. Some of the girls were even smirking, so I guessed that they must have told on me. Anyway, I was used to it, so it doesn't concern me.

"Yes, just that I have a slight headache." Wow, when did i became such a great liar? Ha Ha Ha, great. Now i'm a liar who is unpopular in school. Luckily Mr Lee just nod and told me to rest my head on the table instead of picking on me.

[Sly POV]
Slight headache? Is she all right? Hey, Sylvester! what are you thinking about? Do you think that she will accept emotionless people like you to be her boyfriend? You must be dreaming! Hmm...but i'm just concerned about a new classmate of mine! Haiz...I should really stop thinking of her....

"Sylvester?" I returned to reality and realise that it was Mr Lee.

"Sylvester? Don't tell me Adeline spread her headache to you?" Mr Lee questioned. I was well known for being inattentive in class. Oh no, I can't use the same tactics as Adeline. All right, i'll try my luck.

"I was listening, Mr Lee."

"Oh yeah? Then can you answer the question 5 on the board."Mr Lee was determined to test on me. Why am I so unlucky? Just then, I saw an answer appear on the note Adeline wrote earlier.

"The answer is 28 23/45." I replied confidently.

Mr Lee looked amazed but I didn't care. Hey, the stone-faced Adeline helped me answer the question! Isn't that something to be happy for?

[Ade POV]
I really don't know what was happening to me. I should be cold, and not kind to him!!! He is not the "him" in my mind!!! Argh, stop day dreaming Adeline Tan! But, perhaps I was just pitying him for being caught whilst day dreaming by Mr Lee.

"Ding Dong, Ding Dong" I heard as the students around me cheered. It must be break time aand along with others, I packed my bag and left the room.

I didn't expect to make any friends as most of the girls just hate me for sitting beside Sylvester. I heard in some of their conversation that Sylvester was the most popular guy in school. Well, I can't help it, can I? I wanted to talk back but thought better of it. Keep your cool, Adeline.

As I sat down on a bench at the corner, a guy tried to slide in beside me and got a cold and freezing stare back instead. I was sure that the guy was shocked as he stood up and escaped. Whenever anyone approached me, I would use my cold stare to counter back them. When it was 15 mins before the break ends, a girl with an old-fashioned spectacles sat across me and I, as usual, look at her with my cold eyes. She did not escape from my stare but instead stare back right into my eyes. She seemed to probed further but stop herself in time. Next, she walked to me and said.

"May I be your friend?"I kept my curiousity in mind and replied,

"Why should I allow you to?" Her answer next surprised me. She sat down beside be and began.

"Because when I look into your eyes, I seemed to be walking through a cold freezing alley. There was a part where it was the coldest of all and I wanted to give up but I perservered on and continue walking. Strangely enough, after that cold alley came brightness and sunshine spreading on the alley which made me feel cheerful.. But when I tried continuing, rain appeared and suddenly I felt sad. That was when I realised that I've probed too much." She turned to me and continued, "Can I be your friend now?"

"Yes, pleased to meet you, i'm Adeline." I was surprised at my act but her speech seemed to melt my coldness as I knew that she was right.

"Serene. Am I allowed to introduce 2 of my friends?" She asked. She was obviously afraid that I would reject.

"I trust your eyesight." I gave her a smile that was right from my heart, and not those emotionless smiles.

Next, I saw her grabbed 2 girls from a corner and pull them in front of me. They looked nervous, yet sincere. Unlike the others, who wanted to be my friend in order to fufil their curiosity.

"This is Yuli." She introduced the girl with shoulder-long hair. She had the ah lian look but I was sure she wasn't one.

"And this is Dion." She introduced the other bubbly girl with sleek long hair but was tied up in 2 ponytails.

"Hello." Three of us said in unison. We couldn't help but laugh as we had such chemistry between us.

Chapter 1 - The Girl

[Adeline POV]
Sianz....another school...again. When are they going to stop all these nonsense? Hmm...luckily I know the music teacher, Ms Lee beforehand, if not, I wonder if they would let me book their music room. Anyway, they have 5 whole music rooms leh....so I guess booking 1 of it won't be a problem. Really heng I arrived 1 hr early...if not im gonna have those guys whistling n staring at me le....haiz... I wonder where's the music room... Hmmm...shouldn't be a problem, i can jus ask 1 of the cleaners

[Ade] Umm....excuse me ah, may I ask where's music room 4?
[Cleaner *looks at adeline as if she's an alien] At the corner of the school lor...3rd storey hor!
[Cleaner *mumbles] Another music-crazy student....haiz...

*Walks confidently around 3rd floor, towards the music rooms when she felt more n more afraid, causing her to tip toe
[Ade POV]
wah... so isolated de...sure or not? i dun believe people here actually dun like music! Luckily i got Room 4 booked since the day before and got the key straight. If not i wonder which kind soul will give me the key to this eerie place.

*Adeline was walking very quietly towards Rm 4 n jus as she was about to open the locked door when she heard sounds coming from the next room, music room 5. Her fears were soon overcame by her curiosity n she peeped in the half-closed door. Inside the room, a guy was playing Jay Chou's "An Jing" with his guitar n quietly sings along.
[Ade POV]
Hmm...who's that guy? This song...It reminds me of him...Haiz, surely it can't be him.....But...haiz, better not think anymore and leave before he discovers me......

*As Adeline was about to turn around n leave, she accidently kicked on the wall, causing her to be discovered but managed to escaped in fast steps. As you might hav guessed now, the guy is Sylvester, the "bad" ppl in the sch.

[Sly POV]
Who's that? Normally, no one except me would come to the 3rd storey. Her backview don't look familiar to me. It must be some crazy fans of mine. Haiz....forget it.

*The sch's about to start. Every1 were mostly gathered in the canteen chatting. Suddenly, a mysterious figure appear at the entrance of the canteen n started walking through it. With not exact reason, the girl attracted their attention and they stared at her questioningly. However, the girl either was oblivious about her surroundings, or simply ignored the ppl in the canteen, continue walking past it. Watching her backview, Sylvester found it strangly familiar. She's the one who stood outside the room just now, he thought.
The appearance of the mysterious girl seemed to help the students find a common topic among themselves as they chattered uncontrollably until the bell rings, which signals that the lessons are starting.

Tis is the first day of sch, or i shd say, Adeline's 1st day in DeQun JC as she had jus transferred in from another sch. This is onli the 2nd week of the 1st semester so every1 weren't too close wif each other. However, they hav already recognised those "bad" ppl in sch though it sounds impossible to have gangsters in JCs but it's true though....even though the sch had jus started, they were already known 4 their "trademarks".
